Coronavirus Update 3/16/20
So, I have decided to close Kinematic Canine temporarily for at least 2 weeks due to COVID-19. I will reevaluate weekly. I’ve already gotten a number of questions, so here’s the Q/A version:
Q: Are you sick?
Q: Were you exposed to COVID-19?
A: Nope, at least not that I am aware of.
Q: If you’re doing all the CDC recommended stuff, then why are you closing?
A: Yeah, I’m keeping myself and my home clean. But it’s about way more than cleaning. Like the fact that I am in and out of peoples’ houses and constantly working in close proximity of you and other clients. I would hate to be infected (not knowing it) and bring it to a your home with your young children or the elderly.
Q: Okay…what about the fact that one session isn’t a crowd, considering its usually just you and me? Small interactions are considered okay. We can work outside.
A: While that’s currently true, individuals are recommended to maintain 6 feet of space between each other. I just don’t think its worth it. I promise we will get back on track as soon as this is over! Unless your dog is attacking you or your family and you cannot manage the situation, call me!!
Q: But aren’t you concerned about increasing fear in your clients or the community?
A: I don’t see it that way. With all of the mis-information out there I don’t know all the risks. I suppose I just ask myself, “can I get them sick?” Right now, my answer is “I don’t know.” THAT is pretty daunting. I don’t like not knowing. So I’ll just play it safe and lay low and make saw dust. So the way I see it, people are struggling and conflicted with determining what is safe and what is not safe right now. I do not want to contribute to that struggle and conflict… there’s enough of that going around. So I am making the decision related to dog training out of the equation for you. If you find yourself in a horrible or otherwise dangerous situation with a dog, call me. We will evaluate the situation together.
Q: But what if I’m not in the high risk group? Can we still meet to train?
A: Well, I am very glad that you are not. But with an incubation period of up to 14 days. It’s not worth it. I don’t want to be part of the problem and neither should you. Please be considerate. I have clients in the high risk group too. And even if I didn’t, my clients are probably pretty close to someone in that group. As soon as this is over we will regroup! Until then, my phone or email is always on and available. Reach out if you need emergency help!!
Use this “stuck at home” time to get some training done! As always, I’m here if you need help. Or be like Atlas and catch up on some Z’s!
Stuck at home and still need training?
